A Zombie Movie - Especially Scary For Bees
This 5 minute video is a great watch. I really do feel for the bees. Just as well we do not have these flies in New Zealand but we do have the Varroa mite.
This little parasite catches a ride on the bee, because it wants get right into the beehive. Here they jump off and start eating the baby bees that are still in the pupae stage. The bees really suffer, don't they?
From room 8.
ReplyDeleteYes the bees can feel like their insides are getting eaten - Zac

When the bee could not fly, the maggot has probably hatched and means the bee is almost dead.
We feel sorry for little bees and bees. Mereana said remembers that we need bees to help pollinate flowers, trees and vegetables. We sent you an email picture of our reaction to the zombee fly
Now think what happens to the NZ bees... their little babies are getting eaten by the Varroa mite! EEEEWWWWW!
ReplyDeleteWe feel sad for the bees that are dying. We wish they ate house flies instead! We love bees because they pollinate flowers for us. We hope the scientists can figure out how to get rid of the Varroa mite.
ReplyDeleteHa ha!! Yes, but did you know that house flies have a very important role too? See if you can find out what that may be...
